Hi Everyone, Aug. 11, 2004 Leif & Audrey got married in Evergreen, CO which is about 35 miles from Denver. I decided to make a road trip out of it and left from So. Cal on Wednesday, the 28th of July. Drove right though Vegas and kept going almost to Grand Junction, CO. After getting some bad rest at a noisy Motel 6, which woke me up several hours before I had planned I proceeded to Idaho Springs to stay at the Indian Springs Resort and enjoy their Geothermal Cave Baths. Way cool experience and enjoy stopping there whenever I drive to Denver. This was the first time I stayed there and it was in one of the original rooms that just had a sink, toilet and bed. Nice room and very quiet so I was able to get some sleep after relaxing in the Cave baths. I also brought my new bike and had a nice ride up the road about 6 miles, all uphill, and when turned around and went back I was hitting speeds of about 35mph. Right before town the back hub decides to lock up and that pretty much killed the bike riding for the rest of the trip. Bummer since I was really looking forward to riding it a lot during this trip. (The bike company replaced the wheel for me when I got back home) Tarise and Javiar came up from Denver and enjoy the pool and baths with me before we headed to Denver. On the way back we stopped at Heritage park and rode the sled down the hill track, then headed for the Friday evening get together at David & Georgia's house. It was nice and I got to see most of my uncles, except for Andy who was tied up in Rapid City. None of the other cousins made it except for my Brother Greg and his family. Looking forward to spending time with them too... The wedding up at Evergreen was very nice and it was great to see Leif & Audrey so happy. After the wedding we headed down to David & Georgia's again for an evening Dinner and social gathering. Sunday I met up with my good friend from the past Brian Gray and we hanged around his place until Lexi & Tony showed up to head out to dinner. Brian has one heck of a pad in Downtown Denver across from the Pepsi Center. Took a few pictures of the place. The next day, went to Red Rock with Nate and David. I took way to many pictures there but, what the heck. Nice place to hike around. Had a nice dinner with those who were still around at David and Georgia's house. In the morning I got up and started the drive home. Made it to Laughlin, NV and spent the night at the Flamingo. Gambled a few hours then headed to my Mom's who lives about 30 minutes from there. No.. didn't win anything. Spent the day and evening with Paula (mom) and Jim. In the morning headed to Lake Havasu. Nicola got her boat fixed up and we went skiing Thursday and Friday. On the way in Friday the evening the boat started acting up and we ended up being towed in. I left for home Saturday morning. June 30, 2004 Went to Mexico this past weekend for Jay's bachelor party. It was more like 16 guys have a sports festival. We stayed at John Everson's rental pad in La Mision, Baja Mexico, which is just down the road from La Fonda (K58) where we normally camp. John is the one who help us out when my car was stolen at K50 on Dec 16th, 2002. Jay, Al and I were the first to arrive and get the party started. Friday and Friday night seemed to be Drinking Olympics and I'm not sure who won but everyone kept up the pace. The night was a little blurry for me after the Jungle basketball game, which had no rules and no fouls. I was on the cement floor a couple of times and have several wounds to prove it. I know I was having fun, but seeing how we started drinking around noon, not quite sure how much fun. Most everyone showed up before 9:00pm and it didn't stop until sometime in the am. Dong's camera pictures. On Saturday we played a basketball tournament with 5 teams of 3. There were a few super stars and then the rest of us. That rapped up around 4:00pm and then everyone went to La Fonda to surf or watch others surf as some were still feeling the effects of the night before. I was the only one to stayed behind, mostly to take a rest and get some quality sleep. Once everyone was back and our last addition to the party Dong showed up, we went and ate at Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village to eat some bugs. We didn't get there until 10:00 or 10:30pm so the most of the places were closed but we managed to find something. Most of my pictures are from there. I should note that the only girl that hanged with us the whole weekend was Lucy. She was a trooper and didn't say a word. Not sure if anyone had their way with her. After getting back to the rental, half of the gang went to sleep and the other half played Ping-Pong or just hanged out by the fire pit. My pictures of Dinner and hanging out aftwards here. Sunday was a slow morning, but several of us went out to breakfast in La Mision by the bridge. After that we all went to La Fonda again to check out the surf and a few went out. I think just Dillion, Smiley, and Lowery. Jay, Egan and someone else cut out early to head home. The rest of us stay around until 7:00pm and headed to Rosarito to get a bite to eat before making the boarder crossing. Fun weekend and looking forward their wedding on July 3rd. I'll post Dong's pictures when I get them. June 4, 2004 Went to Mammoth in Feb that I mentioned on the Diary page. Here are pictures from my camera that I took. Went to Vegas three times since then. Once for work and two times for fun. The last time in early May went with two work buddies, Suresh and Neal, by way of Laughlin. Turn out to be really fun since we rented Wave Runners on Saturday before heading to Vegas for the evening. The CO is a fun river to ride on and we were all have a blast until Neal decided to crash into the river bank. The next three hours were spent getting him to a clinic for stitches on his scalp. Well, I called then stitches but really they stabled his head wound closed. The rest of the trip was fun except for Saturday night when I was way to tired to do anything so I just slept. Sunday we went to the Downtown area and made a full day of it before heading home. May 22nd flew up to San Francisco for a TradeShow on the 24th and 25th. Stayed at a nice old hotel called the Dakota Inn in the downtown area by Union Square. Two blocks from the Cable cars and Market Street. Saturday when I got in around 2:00pm at the Hotel, I walk up and over to Pier 39 area. On the way back it was getting dark and I was walking along the shore line back to Market Street when I came upon the annual K-ROQ fireworks show by the Bay Bridge. One of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen mainly because it was timed to music that I liked and some of the fireworks were ones I've never seen before. On Sunday is when I finally took out the camera. I rode the Cable Car to Pier 39 and rented a bicycle to ride over the Golden Gate bridge to Salsilito and back. Very nice ride and total about 25-30 miles but I took it easy and even walked up some of the harder inclines. Saw some great boats that I wished I could of been on. The show was fine at the Palace Hotel. An old friend of mine was walking the show and we ended up going out Monday and Tuesday nights to different places around town. Flew back on Wednesday. All San Fran Pics. Jan 12, 2004 Back from Vegas again! The CES show was bigger then ever and is now the #1 attended show in Las Vegas for any event. Walking the show is even difficult due to the amount of people you have to navigate around but, seeing all of the new electronic items makes up for it. Jan 5, 2004 Another year! As much as I've done this year it still went by fast. Spent X-mas eve and morning at Mom's house in AZ and around 9:00am took off for CO. Got as far as Raton, NM which is just below the border to CO. Stayed at a Motel 6, I traveled for about a eleven hours and went by way of Hwy 40 to the 25. In the morning of the 26th, went to a barber to get a haircut and then took off to Denver around 11:00am. Pictures: Good Camera. Cheap Camera Checked into the Embassy Suites off of Hampton Rd in South Denver. Great place to stay and ended up being a great location for going to the Hanson's house and the wedding. Lexi joined me for the wedding, which wasn't a typical wedding but enjoyable. Didn't get to spend anytime with his bride, but hopefully they will come out to California for a visit soon. That offer goes to all of the cousin's and extended family! The 28th met with Brian Gray for some cocktails at Old Chicago, which was a stone's throw from the hotel. Great to see an old friend. During the day, I went over to the Hanson's and then to Leif's and Andrea's house in Littleton. After everyone woke up we went to a Rock Lapidary for a couple of hours in Golden, and on the way to diner went by the Coor's brewery plant. Diner was at Cafe Bonita, a Mexican place with flair. They have video games/shows/fake caves to explore and the main attraction is a clif diving area into a small diving tank/pond that hired divers jump into every half hour for sort of a show. Intertaining, but the food wasn't great. They kind of have ya as you have to order just to get in the place. Spent the 29th skiing up in Breckenridge, and then picked up Dong around 8:00pm at the airport. Tired from skiing so after diner called it a night. Took it easy on the 30th, but Lexi wanted to get some things done at her apt in Boulder so we went up there for several hours. Dong and I went to the main town area for some drinks and ended up eating at a sushi place when Lexi joined backup with us. Left for Frisco on the 31st for some skiing. Ended up at A-Basin which is the smallest of the ski sites but it wasn't crowded and I had a great day. After diner a vote was called to skip going out for New Years and getting up early to go skiing at Copper Mtn. Copper was another great place to ski at and much larger then A-Basin and less people then Breckenridge. Found a nice place to watch the USC game in Frisco and after drinks and diner headed back to the Ramada Hotel. Dong and I left early on the 2nd to head for Las Vegas. It had snowed during the night and made driving the first 40 miles a difficult and slow drive but we made down to where the snow didn't stick and made good time after that. Stayed at the Palms Hotel and mostly gambled the first night. On the 3rd we went to the Strip and walked around. After coming back and eating at Ruth's Chris and eating their 14oz Filet we were both moving slow so made it an early night. Good thing as we were able to leave around 7:30am and made great time home. Got back to Dong's house around 10:45am which made it one of the fastest trips back for me. If you leave around 11:00am or later that trip can take up to 6-7 hours with the traffic at the end of a holiday weekend. Had fun but it was a long trip and glad to be back. With surfing, diving and all the fun things to do around here I'm looking forward to enjoying the next few months at home. Here are the pictures. Dec 23, 2003 Haven't been taking many pictures. Thanksgiving I went to my Mom's in AZ, everyone was there except for Tarise which was a pretty big bummer because she is fun to hang with in Laughlin where we stay & sleep at night. Got to see my TORD torn apart, hopefully it'll be done soon. Had an early Christmas with Greg's family and Marjorie's family at my place. I'm off to my Mom's on the 24th and then leaving for Denver on the 25th. Cousin Eric Hanson is getting married on the 27th and then I'm off for some skiing in the mountians. Stay tuned. Oct 30, 2003 Joanie sent me her pictures from the San Francisco trip to see Steve. Looks like the worst is over for the fires and since the wind is blowing towards the east we don't see smoke or smell it anymore in the OC area. Now it's NV and AZ turn :) Oct 24, 2003 We had quite the time on Friday at Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach at Old World. The swim team was there as well as few other great friends of mine. Oct 26, 2003 Well the fires are doing a number here in So. Cal. Lots of ash floating around and it smells like a campfire 24/7 outside. Have four different friends that have houses that are in the path and not sure how any of them are doing. The mountians are a mess around here with all of the dead trees from a beetle infestation. Oct 20, 2003 Saturday was Eric Profitts wedding. Eric works with me at HyperDisk Media Inc. Most of the office was there as well and it was hosted at the Del Mar race track, just north of San Diego, CA. Sept 30, 2003 Spent a long weekend in OR at Nate and Luanne's Estacada home. Friday we went and hiked the Trail of Ten Falls, which was one of the better hikes I've ever been on. Then went and played golf at the course right around the corner from their house. Less then a mile away and it's one of the best deals in golf I know of. Only a nine hole course but beautiful and well-kept with mostly par 4's and a two par 5's. The trees, hills and size of the course makes you wonder how they stay in business as it is only $11.00 a round. Saturday Nate and I went took and road trip to Bend, OR and then to the Three Sister Mountians. They have a look out Observatory in Willamette National Forest made out of Lava rocks. Sunday Luanne joined us for a trip to see Mount St. Helens. A long trip but really interesting place to visit and to see the destruction of the explosion. Look at the right side of this picture on the hill past the trees you'll notice they are lying flat. All the trees in the blast zone were uprooted and pushed over. All the pictures are together here. Thanks Nate & Luanne for being wonder host. Sept 22, 2003 Yesterday was Emily's Birthday party at my house. It was small but fun. Last Sunday I volunteered for the Surfrider Foundation and even though the picture didn't turn out, I had to post it has it was one of the best days I've had all year. I worked the beer booth with Big Wave Dave and Rob and a few new friends. Got free beer, a meal ticket, tee-shirt and listened to the bands play all day at the beach in Dana Point. Oh ya, and even got 8 bucks in tips. On Friday the 5th Melissa and I did a Newport Beach bar hoping evening. The pics are of Melissa shooting pool at the BeachBall pup. The week before was Kate's going away get-together in Hermosa Beach. We started out at Nicola's place. Sept 7, 2003 Went to Melissa's Birtday party on Friday night at the Yard House in Costa Mesa and Sunday took Mark out on the boat in Long Beach. Finally got it running again after having it sit for a year. Have the notes from Bob about the Belize trip with comments by me. Aug 18, 2003 Went to Mexico this past weekend. A lot of fun except for the cold water. Some newbies went for the first time, Lexi and Kate. On the 8th went and saw OZO Motley play at the OC Fairgrounds. Aug 11, 2003 Went to San Francisco to see Steve Windle with Darcy and Joanie. Laura, Joanie's sister, lives up there as well. Had a get together to talk about old times and hangout for the weekend. The photos are of the Argent hotel where I stayed Friday night and Steve's place on Saturday. As soon as I get Joanie's photos I'll post them as well. I had some Belize photos still on my camera so here they are. July 31, 2003 Have some pictures from last weekends Mexico trip to La Fonda. Andrea set the trip up and it was one of the best yet. The sky was overcast but that didn't slow us down. The water was around 60 degrees, and besides some shrinkage didn't effect us all that much. On the Sunday after I flew home from Belize some of us went to the OC Fair. Jim and I had a no-rules first-to-the-bottom slippy slide race. Thought I had him when I knock him over into the next lane, but he recouped fast, grabbed my shirt for a pull-by and won the race. We had quite the audience by the time we got to the bottom. July 23, 2003 Well, had my Belize Vacation and besides a few bug bites everything was great. Will work on a page just for trip notes but for now here are the pictures. Dave's Camera, Lily's Camera, Marie's Camera. Dave's UnderWater Camera Done with the Trip Notes. Sept 7, 2003 post. July 4, 2003 Nicola had a party at her place in Hermosa Beach right by the pier, lots of fun people to enjoy the day with. June 29, 2003 Went to San Onofre State Beach again, Dong and Nicola are picking it up well. June 16, 2003 Friday night went to Nicola's dance show, then Nicola's family, Jim and I went to eat at Hermosa Pier. Fun night. Saturday headed to Drea's Party around 2:00pm. That was quite a party. Andrea has great friends and it was fun hanging out for the evening. Her sister put on a dance show with fire cans on the beach which is something hard to explain but exciting to see. After getting to sleep at 2:30am, I had to wake up at 5:00am for a scuba dive at Laguna Beach. Went surfing after that at Bolsa Chica for a little while. Rest of the Sunday was spent catching up on sleep. June 9, 2003 Spent this past weekend I was mostly at the beach since I purchased a new Long Board from Sakal in H.B. On Saturday went to San Onofre State Beach with friends for a fun surf day. On Sunday I had a scuba class at Laguna Beach then went surfing again but this time at Bolsa Chica. Afterwards, we headed to Jim's house for a little relaxing around his pool. May 30, 2003 Stayed home on Memorial weekend. I normally go to Northern California but decided to save money and relax a little. On Sunday I went to The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach with America and Charles. On Monday... Memorial Day I stayed home and filled up the kiddy pool and we had a pool barbecue. Today, Friday the 30th, was opening day for a project we have been working on for Botox Cosmetic. They start a 25 Mall road show going across the US and we did the Kiosk presentation and all of the visual effects. Check out www.botoxcosmetic.com if the tour comes to your area. It's pretty cool with the 3D visual effects. May 19, 2003 Went to Christine's birthday party in Orange, CA on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and everyone was having a blast. The Hosts of the party had a beautiful home and I wish I'd taken my better camera. May 16, 2003 Had to travel to New York for business last weekend. We were staying in Long Island but on Saturday I decide to take a train and see Downtown. A bit taken by the activity, buildings and the people so I stayed in the town for the night to see more of it the next day. It is a great place to visit, even if just for a long weekend and felt quite safe walking from Central Park to Ground Zero and back on Saturday. On Sunday I took a bus tour which is nice because you can get off and on at different stopping points changing buses. All of the pictures are from Sundays bus tour. On page one is a couple of pictures of Seal Beach which were on my camera from the weekend before. At the end of the tour where I got off by the NBC studios, Jay Leno was taping for a Monday show. Got a couple of bad pictures to prove it. April 2, 2003 Well, the grand "TORD" broke down in L.A. on the 24th as I was leaving LAX to come home. The "sis" Marjorie came to help me out. Looks like a head castket problem. Back to driving my buddy's Trooper. And as a cap off to the evening while the tow truck driver was there I tripped on a cement block and landed into a metal pole injuring my ribs. Which had an effect last weekend of the 29th because a bunch of us went to Mammoth for a ski/snowboard weekend. (All of the pics 34 and above are just pictures I took while we drove home) I chanced it and went skiing on Sunday. Had a lot of fun but my ribs got a little worst. After X-rays on April 1, it appears nothing is broken so just knowing that is a big plus. Great to see Mammoth again. Last time I was there was in the 80's. After 3 weekends of being away from home, I'm looking forward to taking it easy this weekend. March 20, 2003 Had a Tradeshow in Chicago this past weekend. First time I've been there and it is a great town to visit. The downtown area is so much fun to hangout and see bands & eat. March 7, 2003 I went to Tim & Megan's baby shower and just took a couple of pictures on the 1st of March. It was great to see the Hedrick brothers again. I've known Jeff and Tim since the 8th grade as they swam on the AAU swim team with me. That goes waaaayyy back. Went snow boarding last weekend with the crew again. Going to Chicago next weekend for the first time for a tradeshow. Bit of a bummer it's on that weekend because Jim's having a Mexico bash for his birthday on the 16th and my sis has a suite in Vegas. Two great options.... gone to waste. Feb 25, 2003 I purchased a cheap camera for times when I don't want to bring my good one. So, you'll notice a big drop in quality of the photos I'm posting this time. Went skiing with Jim, Dong and Lexi on Sunday the 23rd. Had a great time even though I was skiing and hadn't done so in over 10 years. Everyone else was snow boarding and I was playing catch-up most of the time as they all kick butt. The day before I went out on Ian's boat with his wife and two boys. Their friend Kevin and his son Woody was with us. Nice day to sail and Ian's helping my sailing skills out. Jim had a party on the 15th of Feb. And never one to waste his money, Jim heated up the pool for us to swim in to about 85 degrees. Since my car was stolen in December, I had to find some wheels that would work for me. I found it in a "Tord", so nick-named by Lexi. For $2500.00 it was a pretty good deal. Picked it up the same day as Jim's Party. ------------------------------------- Let's see.. quite a bit has happened since I last wrote around Dec 14, 2002. I went to Mexico with several of my friends and the first night we were there my car was stolen. Luckily a guy that rents a place gave us a nice place to stay and we still had a great weekend. My Birthday party was a lot of fun, at least for me! A windy rain storm came up suddenly around 10:30pm to scare most of the folks away. Thanks everyone for coming! New Years was done in Las Vegas with my niece Tarise and her boyfriend Javier. There's some extra pic's of the house & patio. Picture of Perry's 2002 X-mas card. Link to Family Tree site Halloween Party at Gary's House. Thanks Gary, great pary!
